Me and My

"Inspired by..." is a series of posts that I'll write about from time to time. It will consist on talking about someone that inspires me or that I truly admire. Hope you like it!

Maybe you don't know who this guy is, but let me introduce you: Pedro Gonçalves is a portuguese artist, singer-songwriter, youtuber and one of the nicest people I've ever met! I had the pleasure of meeting him back in December 2014 and until this day, there hasn't been a single time that I've seen him without a smile on his face!

Pedro Gonçalves

He started by doing covers for YouTube and yes, there's a lot of people doing covers but he works those songs and makes them his own music and he sings those lyrics like he owns them and you can feel and understand each and every word he sings. One of his most recent videos was "Shape of you" and it honestly gave me goosebumps and I believed every word he sang!

I've followed him for over 2 years now and he is one of those people whose steps you proudly accompany and I've seen him grow and become better and better, until he was one of the final contestants of 'The Voice' 2015!

Eurovision Song Contest Portugal

Now, a year later, he was one of the finalists competing to represent Portugal in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017! And that night he tweeted apologizing for his performance because he thought that maybe he wasn't at his best but he assured us that he had put all his heart in that final performance!
So, Pedro, from the moment you knew you left your heart on that stage, you gave your best! And even if it wasn't the best, remember what you achieved and what you learnt, retain it and use it for your future!

He went from singing in his room for YouTube to singing in a crowded theater, in Coliseu dos Recreios, one of the biggest and most famous theaters in Portugal! I'm truly and fully proud of him and everything he has achieved for the past few years and I'll keep supporting him and following him throughout his life!
Because of him, I believe that dreams do come true and if I fight for what I want, I'll achieve it! He fought some of the worst adversities that life can come up with and he stood up and kept fighting for his dream and I don't know if I should say it but, Pedro, I'm sure your mother, wherever she is, is super proud of the person and artist you became!
Thank you for the smiles, the pictures, the surprise on my 18th birthday (story for another time!) and for being such a genuine person!

‘Supernatural’ is by far my favorite show of all time! And not only for its story but also for the actors. I started watching ‘Supernatural’ because I’ve always been interested in the show and I wanted to know the full story since, if you watch ‘Supernatural’, you’ll know it can be really confusing if you haven’t seen the whole of it … And I happened to start watching it when I was at my worst, exactly a year ago.

When I started this ‘Inspired by…’ series, I knew that I had to talk about them and since yesterday was Jensen’s birthday, this is the perfect time to talk about him and Jared. Well, I chose to talk about them both because to talk about one of them I would automatically talk about the other, so: Jared Padalecki (Sam Winchester) and Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester)!

Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki

I watched the whole 11 seasons in about 2 months and I was immediately obsessed with it! And yes it was about the action, the drama, the sci-fi but it was also about the two brothers and their courage and faith and love for each other! They don’t say ‘no’, they don’t give up, they do their best and give everything they can to save themselves, each other and anyone else involved!
The best thing about their bond is that it also happens in real life and they are such close friends and we see that in interviews and conventions panels. I’ve never been to one but I love to see them on Youtube and they are always so genuine, so kind, so pure, so humble and they never fail to make people laugh. And this bond doesn’t just happen for the good things… It is also for bad times and Jared has shared many times about his depression and about his ups and downs and he can’t even imagine how much that helped me! Not just me, but lots of other people who, like me, are all around the world cheering for them!

I know they don’t know me and I don’t know them personally but I just hoped they knew that somewhere in Portugal they saved a life! I didn’t know how to do this, how to live, how to deal with anything anymore and “getting to know them” and ‘Supernatural’ literally saved my life and I can never thank them enough for that! I genuinely and deeply love them and yeah of course I want to meet them, but if they knew this, I would already be the happiest person!
It’s their smiles, their laughs, their jokes, their dance moves, their songs, their passion for what they do, their compassion, their friendship, their courage, their hard work! It’s each and every little thing about them that makes me admire them more and more and more and I would give anything to have 5 minutes to tell them this!

They taught to 'Love yourself first' and to ' Always Keep Fighting' because 'You Are Not Alone'... 'Family always has your back'!

I don’t think I’ve referred yet how obsessed I am about youtubers… but that is not really the point of this post… Story for another time I guess! (Post idea right there! ahah)
Well, I recently watched a video of a youtuber that I really like called Mark Ferris and the video is about how he changed over the past couple of years and how he is who he really wants to be and he is happy and doesn’t think of what other people think of him. Basically he had a pretty rough down time and he made his way up again.
On my post about the New Year (Out with the old, in with the new) I talked about how I feel and how hard I’m trying to change it. Since that post I’ve thought more and more about it and BAM! Mark Ferris does a video about it!
I can’t begin to describe how much this video inspired me and made me think of everything I feel! As I’ve said, the last couple of years have been super rough for me and I finally feel like I can see a difference in who I was and who I want to be: I really want to be me without thinking of the past, without being worried about what people think, without constantly remembering everything that certain people have told me!
It's a really long way and I know pretty well how hard it is so it just makes me so happy to see that someone that I really look up to actually did it and achieved his goal: to be happy and carefree! I am honestly so proud of Mark because I’ve seen his other videos where he talks about this topic and I understand perfectly what he means!
This video is everything I want to be and I can't thank him enough for this video because he really inspires me and knowing that he felt the same way I do and that he completed this process tells me that I can do it!
After such a long time, I finally see that there’s an end to this path and it feels so good! Of course a big part of the way I’ve completed I owe to all the people that inspire me every single day and one of those people is Mark! So if you have some time, please do check out his channel!
