This Sunday is 8 years since my grandma died and it was the hardest day of my life and every year I write a text about her and I thought I would share this one!
Do you know
what I recently remembered? I remembered when you were cooking and I would put
your shoes on, get the kitchen trolley and I would pretend to sell you fruit
and veggies and you would always play along… And the best is that you always
did it with a smile!
Some people
have a characteristic perfume and you were one of those people! But it wasn’t
just the perfume, it was also your touch, your eyes, your smile and your
fragile but yet sweet appearance. Along the past few years, I’ve found places that
remind me constantly of you, smells, pictures and even people, like Ricardo
Carvalho! I haven’t forgotten how much you liked his curls! In fact, I don’t
think I’ve ever forgotten anything and there’s even some things that have
gotten clearer over the years.
I know this
will probably sound selfish but I want you here with me again, to hug me, to
congratulate me and to tell me how proud you are of me!
Can we make
a deal? You come back and I promise to help you cook and make your bed, I will
tell you what I had for lunch no matter how many times you ask me, clean the
house so you can sit down for at least 5 minutes and I will watch with you
every tv show you like! I promise all this and I promise to better and do
better and yes, I promise that “Caoina” (what I used to call myself when I was
little) won’t get herself in any trouble!
I know I
write this every year… but what does “once a year” mean when I’ve missed you
every day for the past 8 years?
